A Squirrel Pelt(ing)

Yesterday evening at the park, Kievan (with a sprained ankle) and I situated ourselves under a large shade tree to watch the others play. After a few "drops" landed near me, I thought that maybe it was starting to rain. I glanced at the sky and saw only fluffy cumulus clouds, but I thought that the rain cloud must not be visible from my position. After a few more drops, I noticed that they were not water, but peelings from some type of green fruit or seed-pod. As I noticed this, one hit me...then another. I told Kievan what was happening and we laughed as we continued to be pelted. Just as Kievan said she was glad that the squirrel wasn't actually throwing the pods at us, one landed at our feet, the outside of it having been gnawed by tiny teeth. The fruit on the lower-left is the one that was thrown at us. The larger one on the bottom still has it's skin

This is like my story of the orange rinds hitting me while walking with Dickens.
