A few pictures of baby William

William was born five weeks early by C-section because of a placental abruption. His lungs were not fully developed and they collapsed when he first tried to breath. Because of this, he had to spend the first few days of his life under an oxygen hood.
He weighed over six pounds, which is good for a preemie! However, he is not nearly as "round" as he looks in the picture above. He was given a lot of fluids to keep his volume up for some reason I don't fully understand...
He has the long toes which are from my side of the family :-)

The proud papa and mommy, ready to take him home from the hospital!

The pink marks on his face are from the tape which held the tube down his throat.

Now, at almost 3 weeks old, he is a very cuddly little fellow. He loves to eat and sleep...and requires holding at all times! (I don't mind!) He is very alert, his large eyes are often open. Though darker than the other kids' eyes were, I do think they will eventually turn blue. His eyelashes are very light, so we'll see if that dark hair falls out and gets replaced by blonde.

Please notice that the baby ticker at the top of the page is still showing that Peanut isn't born. It is still so hard to believe he is really here and several weeks old already! And he is quite awesome I must say.

Love you Buddy,
Poppa

PS. Thanks for the pleasant adjective, Dawn. But after a tragic ice storm, the horror of Diana's calamity, and a week of Hospital life, (not to mention that I had been crying for three straight hours) the truth is I really look like I died three full days before this picture was made. (And to think, we still had the flu in front of us!) Nevertheless, I was exceedingly happy when that photo was made.

I had been praying Psalm 37:25-26.

"I have been young, and now am old,/ yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken / or his children begging for bread.
He is ever lending generously, / and his children become a blessing."

God did not forsake us in our time of great distress, and my son will live to be a blessing! I can not offer enough thanks and praise to every doctor, nurse and professional at NEA Hospital. Thanks be to God!

Now we get to see how God will pay all these hospital bills without my children begging on the side of the road :-) I know he will!!
