Getting the gardens ready

Here are a few pictures from working in the yard this month.

~We put in a new flower bed on the side of our backyard and planted it with seeds. Kievan and Ben are busy watering it...




















Anna Claire helped "redesign" the garden around the fish pond.






































~Ben continuously shadows Brad in the yard, helping him. He eventually "earned" his own shovel and gloves, of which he is VERY proud.




















~Allister helped decorate the fishpond garden, arranging "bunnies" and bird feeders.




















~Chloe has started her square-foot garden again this year.

My dear family, This is Grandmother, writing on Jessi's computer. I loved all the pictures of your new gardens, and especially of the beautiful children working in it! I can see Benj is quits an expert with the shovel, and Allie is a good landscaper! I enjoyed helping out with Chloe's square foot garden last year and am glad to join in on the fun by pictures this year. How exciting to visit Laura Ingalls house. Did Mommy tell you about our visit to Pa's and Ma's house in South Dakota many years ago? Also loved seeing the pictures and reading about your church. What a special church it is! And extra special children standing outside all ready to go inside. Very much love to all seven of you, Grandmother

Crazy for the Computer Chloe is currently building her own 'website' using Front Page. So far, everything she has built has been done on her own including design, building the tables and cells, personalizing their properties, inserting hyperlinks, etc. She builds her own graphics using Paint Shop Pro. Also, all content has been written by her with no editing or suggestions from Mom. Check it out here ! Highlights from Today's Nature Walk: 1. Chloe spotted what she thinks is a Dowitcher (bird with long beak) 2. Ben splatted in the river about six times, so returned home soaked but happy 3. We finally got our winter snow! We had perfect winter weather today. It was on the warm side for snow (somewhere between 34 & 36 degrees) and the beautiful flakes were numerous. By the way, Chloe knitted the scarf she is wearing. *The bald eagle returned today. This is quite a record considering we usually only see him about twice a month. He still seems to be scavenging on Matthew Island. We're considering canoeing out and putting fish (or something) on the bank everyday to ensure that we see him on the Backyard Bird Count (Feb 17-20) www.birdsource.com/
