More misc pictures...

The tree behind our house is very old and beautiful, but unfortunately is slowly dying. We had to cut off several large limbs, and more really need to come down. Here is Chloe standing on one of the limbs.

~We went to a festival at Baker Seed Company known for its non-GMO heirloom/rare seeds. We came home with several seedlings and two angora rabbits. While in the area we took a quick side-trip to see one of Laura Ingall's houses. This one was built by Almanzo. The girls are modeling their prairie bonnets.
Don't see Ben in the picture? He is there. Check up on the porch!

We are planning to order heirlooms next year. This year we just got the seed packets from Menard's.

My children would have loved to visit one of Laura Ingalls' houses! We've looked into it as a sort of field trip/mini-vacation but with gas prices, it is just a bit expensive!

Since you've visited the Wilder House, I recommend you try reading "I Remember Laura" and "Little House in the Ozarks." These are collections of her magazine articles written after her marriage and relocation to the Ozark Mountain area. There are some wonderful recollections of the young and older Mrs. Wilder by her friends, relatives and neighbors. I think your girls will especially hear how resourceful and ahead of her time Laura really was. After her husband's health failed, she kept the farm going and reclaimed the broken-down property and made it thrive. We love these books and I think you will too.
