I Guess I Should've Known...

After visiting Nana, the girls come home with their suitcases packed with clothes that just smell fabulous. About a year ago I found out the secret... dryer sheets! Well, I started using them and have loved them ever since. Every time the box would run out I'd try a different brand so just as our noses were getting accustomed to the old scent we could get a new scent. I loved how the fragrance would waft through the house when the dryer was on. Wonderful!
Today I read this. It really doesn't surprise me. I mean, I realized they must have artificial fragrances, but I'm not sensitive to those things. (I know fragrances aren't great. That's one of the reason's I've started using the new laundry mix: to lessen exposure to unnecessary elements. But give up my dryer sheets too? No way!). But...it never occurred to me that dryer sheets might contain all sorts of other noxious chemicals that are proven carcenogens and /or affect the central nervous system. I guess I knew this day was coming, but now the dryer sheets must hit the trashcan. I'm so sad. (If this article is not true, please let me know. I LOVE dryer sheets. :-) Now, off to wash the kids' bedding. (I wonder if my headaches will go away?)

Hello, fellow homeschooling rebel! How dare you not allow your children to be exposed to the grand socialization and propaganda experiment that is the public school system. To think that you probably also pray in your homeschool and use the scriptures too. *shudder*
Raising the next generation of the ACLU's worst nightmare. :)
Indeed. There are several chemicals in items we use each day that only recently have hit the major news arenas - telling us how bad they are for our health. Plus those dryer sheets do not decompose in landfills and will be there for several thousand years. Back to the liquid softners, sorry.

I just found out that artifical sweetners are triggers for migraine headaches which increased when the told me I was on the way to Type 2 diabetes if I did not cut the carbs. So now it is no diet sodas, no regular sodas and no dryer sheets, and no dairy products for me!

Leading a healthy life in this day and age becomes a little more difficult each day...

BRAVO FOR HOMESCHOOLING BRAVO!

Environmentally, all fabric softeners are bad unless they are from natural products. (Ex: Seventh Generation, Ecover, etc...) Plus, they do leave a faint film on clothes which just attracts more dirt faster and wears out the fibers sooner... Just a couple things I didn't know before I started doing some research a few years ago. I've always tried to be environmentally conscious, but this was one product I hadn't really thought about! (And my migraines improved quite a bit after giving it up!)
